Spring Break Day 10

Spring Break Day 10

Well, this is the end. Back to school tomorrow.  But first, church and play outside!

I wasn't sure how our "dappodils" (as Cort calls them) would do with the cold and snow we got, but we have a few beautiful flowers at the moment. And one ended up in my kitchen window sill.

There we are!  We do exist!  Photo courtesy of our 4 year old, Ty.  (That's why we are on the ground.

Ella climbed a tree at her dad's house.

Spring Break Day 9

Spring Break Day 9

Saturday!  The boys love it when daddy doesn't have to go to work today!  Ty was extra excited to try out his new bike.  He glided for a bit and felt out his balance, then off he went on 2 wheels!!  I wish he would learn his letters as quick as he learned to ride a 2 wheeler bike!

And my favorite store, Target, had a Paw Patrol scavenger hunt in the store with prizes at the end!!  So we took the boys and had a great time hangin' in Target! Who doesn't have a great time when they walk into Target?!  The boys got coloring books, a little figurine, fruit snacks, and crowns.  Win Win!!

Spring Break Day 8

Spring Break Day 8

Day 8 is Friday!!!  The children were a little, um, .........
O.k.  they were totally pestering each other by 8AM!  I had to do something fast!  So I send the three oldest to go clean the basement. That's fun on spring break, right?

Things got better after that.  Ella went for breakfast with her dad's side of the family.  Then I took the 4 kids to the popcorn factory and they each picked out a flavor!  Then we made a quick stop at the zoo!  The afternoon was filled with hanging out, playing outside and coloring a birthday picture for Grandma DW.  Ella went off to her dad's for the weekend and the boys and I had movie night with our popcorn!

Each holding their flavors of popcorn.  Tripp had the big bag!

Ella had fun with Nana baking a cake and decorating it! She does really well and enjoys it!

We did get Cort to sit on the butterfly this time!

Spring Break Day 6

Spring Break Day 6

Another busy day!!  We had plans for the zoo, but we were rained out. So a quick change of plans brought us to the museum!  Tripp stayed home with Nana and the three older kids and I had a lot of fun exploring the museum!  They had glowing animals exhibit and a whale exhibit, along with other kids activities that afternoon. I think the carousal was their favorite!  Then out for a quick lunch and pick up Tripp. Then one more errand before heading home with a few very tired children.

Spring Break Day 5

Spring Break Day 5

Today we had some friends over!  Ella's sister Claire and brother Alex were able to come and play!  We played with play doh and the kids played outside a bit.

Spring Break Day 4

Spring Break Day 4

Another busy day but it flew by!  We had our friend and neighbor Ellie come over.  Our power went out half way through making my eggs and stayed off for over an hour! Then Ella left to go to a friends house. So the boys and Ellie and I ventured over to Critter Barn along with about 300 of our closest friends.  JK!  It was SOOO busy!  We parked 1/2 mile down the road just to get there, and with a 5 yr, 4 yr, 3 yr and 1 yr old, just walking there was something.  We enjoyed many animals and saw a goat get milked.  Then Cort went potty but missed the toilet, so he had wet pants.  Ty wanted to leave, Ellie wanted to see the pig and Tripp headed toward the goats, all at the same time.  Then we took the long walk back to the car with a screaming 1 year old, until Ellie held his hand and all was right with the world again.

The long excited walk to the critter barn.

The moment they were all looking at the same animals.

Thank goodness for Ellie's hand.  All is well now!!

After we got home, there was a brief moment before the rain came.  Ellie tried out the many various riding machines that the boys have.

Later that evening, Ella and I went to see Beauty and the Beast! It was a fantastic version of the movie.  The original cartoon was from my era.  It was amazing to see how this was brought to "life".  And a little girl time with my girl!

Spring Break Day 3

Spring Break Day 3

Today is Sunday and I have to play the piano at church today. Ella came to church in the morning and Cort came with me in the evening.  He had such a busy day playing outside that he fell asleep during the service.
It was a nice day so the boys played outside again.  Daddy put together Tripp's new John Deere tractor, but Tripp preferred the excavator.  However, Cort loved the tractor!

Spring Break Day 2

Spring Break Day 2

We woke up in the hotel and had breakfast.  Then it was off to the pool again!  Tripp enjoyed throwing the rings in the pool.  We left the hotel and bought 4 new rakes so that the kids can help rake the lawn.  As I was practicing piano, Ty came in the house and said that a turkey poo-ed on my car.  Of course, I thought he had mis-spoke and maybe it was a bird or a hawk.  So I went outside, and it was actually a turkey!!  As Peter and the 3 kids were outside, a turkey flew out of the tree and flew over the backyard and poo-ed everywhere!!  On Ty's excavator, all over my car, on the ground and the fence too! Gross!! Thankfully it wasn't on the children!

Spring Break Day 1

Spring Break Day 1

Our first day was a very busy one!  We started out with a trip to Meijer Gardens to see the butterflies with Nana and Papa. Then we went out for lunch for Nana's birthday and had some cupcakes for dessert.
Late afternoon, we packed up the car and went to a local hotel in "the big city" as Ty and Cort call it.   We were able to get out of the house, do some swimming and go out for dinner. (twice in one day!) Our first time at IHOP was a big hit with the kiddo's. Then off to bed in the hotel.

Papa and the boys looking for a chrysalis.

Papa has a black butterfly on his head (hard to see in the picture) and Tripp was laughing!  Nana caught the moment on camera!

Ty made a butterfly with his hands.

Tripp was looking up at the butterflies flying around.

All the little ones!

Cort didn't want to sit on the butterfly.

Off to the hotel and the first thing they did was put on their swim suits.

After swimming and a quick shower, we ate at IHOP.  Ty and Cort had a large pancake with a smile face on it!  Ella had eggs, sausage and 5 silver pancakes with blueberry and strawberry syrup.  She was very excited with her breakfast for dinner!

After all that food, it was time for a movie and off to bed!
