Triathlon 2019

I did my first triathlon this spring!  All of the details lined up so I took the time to do some training and decided it was now or never. I did some swimming in our local rec pool, but I am not a swimmer at all! I am not an elite athlete, but I did it and am very happy with my accomplishment.

Getting my transition area set up

Although I am smiling, I was an anxious, nervous disaster.  And wet suits are not flattering.  I might have turned around and left had it not been for Peter standing next to me, telling me I can do it.

I was so happy that I survived the swim, I stood up and shouted "I'm alive"!  That is a real smile!

Off to the bike portion, where I did make up some time after a not-so-impressive swim.

Finishing the 5k at the end. SUPER happy to have finished! The run was a closed course except for the adjacent homeowners, so I did stop at a little kids lemonade stand. They were too cute and didn't have many customers!

Memorial Day 2019

Memorial Day 2019
All 4 kids were in the parade this year!  And Peter walked along with them.

Tripp rode a wagon with his 3school class!  He actually looked really grumpy up until this exact moment, then back to grumpy.

Cort walked with his kindergarten class in the schools historical (and really warm) blue coats and Cort's blue hair!  Peter walked along with them.

Ty walked with his first grade class behind Cort's kindergarten class, but without the blue coats or stick to hold.  Ty did have blue hair though and the camouflage shirt that Nana made him.

Ella marched with the band for the first time!  She practiced memorizing her song and playing the flute while walking.  I think all of her practice really paid off! And she even smiled!

Tripp 3-school

Tripp 3-school

Tripp completed his first year of 3-school!  He continues to learn and copy his older brothers. He was special helper in the classroom toward the end of the school year and he really enjoyed it! They also had time at the park with their older buddies. Together they did a scavenger hunt at the park.  Tripp really enjoyed that as well!  He is off to "4-school" (preschool) this fall!

Baseball!

Ty and Cort both played baseball this spring. Ty played Kid Pitch/Coach Pitch while Cort played Coach Pitch/t-ball.   They continue to learn and get better!
Ty was blue and Cort was green

More things!

Ella had her first year of band and she played the flute. This was her first concert and she practiced a lot and learned a lot!
Since Ella redecorated her room, the boys wanted to change their room too. So we added a "Mini Man Cave" sign in their bedroom!
Ty finally lost his first tooth at school!  Then a week later he lost his second tooth at school! Very consistent!
From time to time, we stay home from church and watch it live on the internet.  When we do that, the boys like to imitate the ministers and praise team members. It's great to watch them!
Cort had a project at school and he did his on horses. The family was able to come and watch.
Tripp had a great time making "real" orange juice (with clementines).

Easter 2019

Easter 2019

So many things!

The kids are always busy doing things!  Ella won second prize for her art at school and we finally finished the last few details of her room remodel.  She is growing up fast!  We tried to spend some time outside but it was a cold spring.  Riley didn't even want to hang out on the driveway. He preferred the warm quilt in the wagon! Tripp found a cozy spot to lie down in a box in the living room.

Ella was gone for spring break, so the boys and I did a few activities. One night in a local hotel with a pool.  Another day at the museum. Another day with Nana and Papa at Meijer Gardens!
